Casa Valeria - Highly Recommended - Sosua

  • I stayed three nights at Casa Valeria on Dr. Rosen Street -- inbetween Rocky's and New Garden.

If you want a QUIET hideaway for just you and ONE chica, very close to the bars, this is the place.  I didn't hear any noise, music, or roosters.  Nada.  They allow one discreet chica at a time.  In the evening a security man is on duty (desk closes around 9).  He monitors the situation and is very cool.  Tip him - nice guy.

Superb three meal-a-day restaurant w/ room service. Comfortable bed, up to date bath fixtures, very hot water, cable TV with plenty of English stations, A/C, in-room safe, mini-bar.  Only 11 rooms.

  • I checked this place out on my last trip and was impressed with the grounds and the proximity to the action.  Looking to stay at another venue besides Rocky's on this next go around.  Anybody else have any experiences staying here(good or bad)?

  • I was also wondering about this place. I had dinner there once (I was staying at NG), and it seemed like a nice place. Can you speak to the cost per night? Also, is there a pool? Having a quiet place is important to me.

    Thanks!

  • I like the restaurant for breakfast.. Right next to New Garden but if you head over there in the morning you are often the only one there. They make a nice fruit layout with some toast and yogurt. Nothing too heavy but satisfying and a good recharger. Never had a chance on my last trip to eat there in the morning but did get there once for lunch.. The employees they had there I liked were gone and the replacements were not near as friendly.

Still a nice little restaurant though - right along the street but they have a thick"ish" wall that deadens the sound and provides a decent tropical feel atmosphere with a bit of privacy... sorta.
