blackbeards restarunt

  • i have always liked the food at blackbeards.  thing is , there are a few things i think are deserving of change on it.  wondered what others thought.

one, the filet mignon.  not the best cut.  i actually have taken it out of the rotation as i just dont find it that good.  i would gladly pay more to get a better cut.  i like steak, i like it a lot, just not theirs

seafood, i am not necissaily a big fish eater, (hate the friggin bones)  but really like shrimp, scallops, lobster, crab etc... i would like to see them expand on that aspect of the menu

anybody have any ideas on what they would like to see??   i guess what i am thinking , suggestions that other agree with and then we could pass the ideas on to bb's.  the broader and more appealling the menu is, the less one would walk out the front door to eat elsewhere when a guy stays there for 4 nights.  it is a win win for everybody.

anybody have any suggestions??  if enough agree, we could put up a poll with them and narrow it down to a handfull of selections that everybody thinks is a good idea

  • I agree about the steak i love steak but so far i have tried steak in several places in dr and its tough as hell and doesnt taste like the states do.

I agree about the shrimp i also love shrimp and i dont think there is enogh selection of shrimp on their menu and i am sure its not too expensive for them to buy that down there.

And Rango...I got to consign the spicy chicken...it is very good.

Thanks again for turning me on to that spagetti. It was the fuel for my afternoon sessions. lol.
I think the steak is a bad cut too but I think we are getting the lesser cut to keep prices down.

that steak wouldnt even make the select cut (not a good grade) here in the states.  it is bathed in gravy to help cover up the fact that it is domestic dominican beef.

didnt eat any last time down, dont plan on it this next time down , and i love steak, especially a good filet

get good beef and raise the prices.  i dont think anybody here would have a problem with that

I 100% agree as long as the steak prices don't jump to the mid to high 20's range. Maybe we can get organized and approach BB's about it in a manner that will result in change, or even suggesting dishes to add to the menu that works for management and the clients. I am a foodie myself but the only reason I don't complain is because I remember how bad the food used to be it really has improved 10fold. I used to take a taxi to la cariates or walk to sole mia everyday.

there was a thread maybe a month or two back asking the membership to come up with ideas to present.  the only thing anybody said was more shrimp if memory serves correctly

i think if we came up with some changes we would like (try to be unified to a degree)  and personally email, that would be the best bet

the more they see guys would like some change the more luck we would have

could have them just offer some of the suggestions as a special to see how it would go over, that way, they arent changing menus and all trying to see if it will fly

yea, not much nutrition in tin cans, plastic bags and dust.

the inverse, take a look at beef cows in colorado.  the free range variety.  you see them out there grazing, cleanest nicest looking well rounded toned steers you would care to see.  however...their main source of feed grazing out there on the range is sage.   that puts a flavor to the meat, while not bad, certainly not good.   also, being a range cow, the beef doesnt marble well and you dont find that good of beef out there.  certainly not what you would expect looking at the live product

we are spoiled here in the midwest.  grain fed beef, almost always gets a choice stamp from the inspector.  choice is a well marbled meat with good flavor and most always tender without addl. efforts put into tenderizing or flavoring (think that gravy bb's puts all over their filet)

  • i dropped bb's and email, told them that having a few premium meals to choose from on the menu would be a big plus for us mongers.  mentioned that a good steak amongst those premium meals would be a plus, along with something with jumbo shrimp and some shrimp cocktail

mentioned that a few premium meals could keep us from having to travel out when wanting a good steak.

now, here is the interesting part, i received no comment back.  wouldnt hurt if others would drop them an email

  • Do we need to set up a meet and greet dinner for the I.F.T.C. Army?

We could ask Black Beards to make us something special maybe Wensday the 16th, might be fun for each of us to stand and then everyone guess who is who.

We could tell them that we will each lay out $15 to $20US and try to push for a grade a steak, by then we should have a good count for management to go by.

Or would this be to close to the cat herd Ralphie was talking about?

Hey Ralphie, how do you spell PHD? ;D

We are talking about the Professor of Ho Development degree that we are all still taking classes and exams for? Correct??
BB is offering both a certificate program and a full diploma program, correct?
And they allow you to transfer credits from Passions and other Sosua programs, right?
That is the program of study that we are talking about, right??
I am registered in the May course of study.  And I will be seeing where I can add other courses in order to earn additional credits.
The syllabus for each course is very hands on and quite intense - but worth it.
Though, for some reason, they keep extending the amount of credits needed before graduation, so I keep having to sign up for more courses of study...

     ;D

Hey Ralphie, how do you spell PHD? ;D

We are talking about the Professor of Ho Development degree that we are all still taking classes and exams for? Correct??
BB is offering both a certificate program and a full diploma program, correct?
And they allow you to transfer credits from Passions and other Sosua programs, right?
That is the program of study that we are talking about, right??
I am registered in the May course of study.  And I will be seeing where I can add other courses in order to earn additional credits.
The syllabus for each course is very hands on and quite intense - but worth it.
Though, for some reason, they keep extending the amount of credits needed before graduation, so I keep having to sign up for more courses of study...

     ;D

Santo I think we are taking the same courses in the spring semester lol.... Got a B- last year in bb101 did a lot of work (19 assignments lol) but didn't study enough lol.... Going for an A this semester... See you on campus lol
