Welcome shoalin. I will be arriving this weekend this as well but spending the first few days at BBs with one of my boys from Brooklyn for his first trip. We'll be in sosua on Monday though. One thing about rhumbas is that it recently opened again as a restaurant with less barstools and televisions but was recently raided and closed again during the week. Not sure of their current status. Either way there will still be plenty to do and I may even run into you if you are still there.

Also my friend from Texas just got back from there last Thursday. He said it was still good had a nice trip. Girls stayed all night no problem and bar fines were good prices. So really look forward to this. Will be on the ground in 21 days. Can't wait. Have been video chatting with several already. Really like that they speak English makes everything so much easier

One other question is it safe to bring all your spending cash and leave it in hotel safe or better to use ATM and pull it out? My one friend said he got his room safe broken into by staff.
Depends on the hotel. I'd say the chances of the ABC staff stealing from you approaches zero.

I agree fully with DrinksOnMe: the chances of ABC staff stealing are basically zero.  You have to remember these two points: (1) many years ago Gerard was kidnapped.  He was rescued by a best friend a few months later, and some of his staff (he was not in the hotel business at the time - these were staff from a different business of his) was found to be involved.  Some of those people never made it to trial ....  So he is very, very meticulous about all security, especially his hotel.  And (2) a few years ago, just after the New Millennium tower was finished, we had one of my annual birthday bashes in the Penthouse of the New Millennium tower (three friends and I rented the four rooms up there).  Late our first afternoon, my one friend looked out his back window, and saw what appeared to be evidence of a break in to his room.  There were pieces of the window frame that were (literally) on the floor of the hallway outside.  We called Security (you know that ABC always has a lot of "muscle" - those big guys in their black uniforms who are always present and smiling).  They got Sir Louie (ex-PNP - he worked for Gerard as security) involved.  The place was soon crawling with security.  They watched videos from their mutliple cameras.  No one had come up or gone down or gone by.  And you could see the window frame structure failing.  So it was a mechanical issue (window frame not properly installed).  But what impressed me was how intensive the security was.  Gerard personally came by to  supervise.

So while no place is 100%, I think that ABC is about as safe as you will ever find.  Some of the other hotels in AC?  Probably not so much ...

I am booked at Central Park Tower Resort. I will take my chances I guess. I just don't know is if ATM will be dependable and what rates are for the withdrawal. Plus they limit transactions allowed a day

Is that the back side of that little bar, Ricks?  Think I have seen that pool when we had eaten at the bar.

Hi Dan and Lynne,

If you are looking for someplace to stay in Costambar outside of Blackbeards I would suggest Residence Atlantic One.  It is directly across the street from Sole Mio (Italian Restaurant) which is around the corner from Blackbeards. I have rented a clean, bug free, 1 bedroom apartment for around $35 per night depending on the length of your stay.  It is also chica friendly as you can have the BB chicas come to your apartment.  They have a clean pool, restaurant and bar also.  Contact is Steven at 809-970-7245 and website is residenceatlantico1.com.
