If you are going to Medellin there are a variety of lodging options.  The only caveat is you need to make sure the hotel/apartment etc. is chica friendly.  Of course you have the Mansion which is similar to the FOD/BB's setup.  However there are a great many others.  You can stay in anything from a 4 star hotel to a shitty little hostel which costs like 5 bucks a night.  A couple options I would recommend is:

1.  If you want to stay in a hotel, I would recommend the Hotel Estelar Blue.  Super nice hotel with very reasonable rates.  You need to make sure you book for 2 people though.  Otherwise you will have to pay a guest fee.  The hotel is very well run, chica friendly, they offer free breakfast and a light dinner, which was more like snack foods.  The room has a mini bar with beers, soda, whisky etc. which are very reasonably priced.  I loved staying here, I got a Jr. Suite room with a huge living room and a nice patio and paid like around 72USD a night.

2.  The second hotel I would recommend that is chica friendly is Hotel Lleras 10.  It is right on the edge of the nightlife area of Parque Lleras and has really nice rooms with a free breakfast in the morning with coffee, etc.. The rooms can be had for a basic room usually around 60 USD to a Jacuzzi suite for around 75USD.  You just need to keep an eye on travel sites such as kayak, priceline, etc..  I stayed here and really enjoyed my stay.  I had one of the basic rooms and although a little small it more than fit my needs.  My buddy got one of the Jacuzzi suites and it was really nice and big and a great place to have women over.

3.  The best option in Medellin however is to rent an apartment.  There are several companies that rent apartments along with going on sites like AirBNB etc..  The company I use is Poblado Rentals  pobladorentals.com
They have apartments for every taste and need.  From a really nice studio, right in the thick of Parque Lleras (the main nightlife center) to a huge 6 bedroom pimped out penthouse for a larger group of guys.  Several of their apartments have Jacuzzis and all have kitchenettes or full kitchens.  For  single guest you are looking at around 75.00 to 100.00  a night depending on what you are looking for.  If you have more guys the price drops dramatically for like a 2 or 3 bedroom.  All the apartments are located in safe areas and have safety gates, as well as video surveillance.  All have excellent wifi, flat screen TV's with cable, and several have DVD players etc.. for a nice relaxing night in with a lady.
I know this was posted a while back but I have a group of friends thinking about making a trip to Colombia. Appreciate the info here. If anyone is still following this thread just wondering if the info above is still valid.  And would love to hear any updated info that you have.

The apartments definitely sound like what we would be interested in.  Also want to know about the night life and good spots to meet chicas as well as any good golf courses to hit.  Of course I will continue reading through the board to see what others have posted...

Looking into possible short stay in Sosua in September.  It seems there are a lot management changes and just a lot of changes in general in the hotels there lately.  So I'm looking for something fairly nice but not as expensive as Ahnvee.  I could use a place with several bedrooms and a nice layout with kitchen, etc. as I will be traveling with a wingman for a change.  Hotels.com has a nice looking place 'Infiniti Blu Luxury Ocean Front Condos' for a reasonable price.  Anybody know if it's chica friendly?  or any experience there?

i just looked at my email from this past jan.  we paid 65 bucks for a regular room with breakfast and diner and 75 for the bungalows.

also, there are 4 rooms first floor plus 2 bungalows (cotages)

here is their website:  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

they show a higher rate on the website but offer a cash discount.  must be the difference between the website and what we paid

i will email wifried and ask when he is expecting to be shut down for renovations

btw, there are only 3 or 4 regular rooms ground floor (restaurant and lobby take up the rest of ground floor) and two cottages ground floor, so i would recomment reserving as soon as possible

also, they are going to be closing the entire hotel down for a total renovation.  i forget when that was all supposed to happen.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I will consider Hotel Sosua Sunrise.
i am thinking they are 65 or 70 bucks a night and that includes a nice breakfast and a great selection of different entrees for dinner as well.

you could effectively say the food lowers the price to 45 or 50 bucks a night.

also, reserve early and ask for ground floor or if you want a bigger room they have two cottages off the end of the pool .  those rooms are 10 or 15 bucks more.

u want ground floor, saves a lot of steps
