Title: Bay Breeze Hotel
Post by: Westy on April 22, 2015, 09:10:25 AM
I booked into the Bay Breeze at the suggestion of Snoozer on "the nameless board." It's on Second Street at Soi 11 (Soi Honey), across from "Tipp Plaza" and a beer-bar complex whose live music would've wrecked my sleep if I hadn't brought industrial ear-plugs.

My room was on the corner of the building, with windows on both sides - very light and airy. It had a comfortable king-size bed, electronic safe, micro fridge with mini-bar, a large flat-screen TV (which I didn't use), and a serviceable desk. The WiFi signal was strong with good bandwidth.

They also had a free breakfast buffet, a restaurant and bar, and a "boom-boom" massage place right across the street - one of my fellow punters, who had a room nearer the ground and further up the soi, called down from his window for his "honey" to come up and give him a happy-ending massage! Talk about convenience!

A definite buns-buster. I got United from IAD (Washington/Dulles) to Beijing - 14 hours in the air - and Air China for Peking-Bangkok and the return legs.

Fun fact - the flight to Beijing went east, over Greenland and above Europe (green on this Google Earth screen-cap), and the flight home went over the Bering Strait and Alaska. So I kept going east, and I can claim I've flown around the world in search of Asian tail.

The flights between Bangkok and Beijing were about five hours. I had a 12-hour layover in PEK on the way back, and stayed in their in-terminal hotel ... pricey, but I didn't feel comfortable about sleeping in the open terminal.
