I had a few features that I wanted in a hotel when I went looking for a place to stay in Pattaya. I wanted a place that was central and close to the beach, I wanted it to be neat and clean (didn't have to be fancy, but needed to be comfy), I wanted it to have wi-fi and I wanted it to hve a safe. Lastly I wanted it to be under $60 a night. The Maytara fit all of these criteria.
The Maytara is on 2nd ave right near Soi Diana/Soi Honey, so in other words, right in the center of everything. It's right on 2nd so the baht buses go right by. There's lots of restarants and bars nearby, as well as a 7-11 across the street. The rooms are quiet and comfortable, the service was good and when I booked I paid under 50 bucks a night. One block from the beach, and even a pool and spa/massage services (with extras) available in house at the hotel. Girls came in and out with no fuss and not even a raised eyebrow, and a few short steps away was a beer bar complex that was open around the clock. For my tastes this was a really excellent little monger hotel, and it's also relatively new. Very good value for money.

I have to agree with Shadowman on this hotel also... One of my favorite hotels I ever stayed in for the price and mongering purposes plus I stayed on the first floor, where all I had to do is open my back door to the pool... real plus hotel here..

I will be in Pattaya November 6-18 am considering Maytara. When is the last time you stayed there and is it still good? I know from past some places are great when they open but then service goes down.

LK Empress. Overpriced and you have to pull teeth to get sheets that aren't disgusting.
I only recommend if you have Liberace tastes.

Yes, he was gay and he loved extravagant things that I think most of us straight guys could give a flip about.
This hotel, LK Empress, has a lot of gaudy bells and whistles in their rooms that (IMHO) are cheesy and don't make up for the fact that the hotel is WAY overpriced although I DID love the location right on the beach and the noise level was very, very low despite the close proximity to the street.

Thanks for the input. That look definitely not my taste or where I would want to spend 2 weeks.

Thanks for the great information
I leave for my maiden voyage to the land of smile for days at the end of November. Staying off of second road at LK Renaissance on Soi Diana close to LK Metro
