  • blackbeards is at 150 pesos ($ 3.30 + or -) presently per their menu on their website.

wasn't but a few years back they were 80 pesos , then 90 pesos.  not sure when they made the big jump, but... that is not cheap beer.

  • New to posting and thank you all for the great info.

I am in the very beginning stages of planning my first trip. Have read all the great information hear or am reading and thank you all so much. Planning on getting the fast pass soon. Really trying to figure out what is best. Do like the idea of Chica variety and sounds like getting a room at New Garden in town and playing the field will offer me that better then someplace like BB. Please let me know if this is incorrect thinking. I should mention I speak little to no Spanish.

Well I am sure I will have many more questions but want too read more of the information here so I don't ask already answered questions.

    Thank you,

    huskerdude

  • As a newbie speaking little or no spanish U would suggest you stay at FOD (which is a lot closer to Sosua) or BB, and just go to Sosua a few nights to get that taste.  If you are going with others, then staying in Sosua would be OK, but not alone for someone speaking little spanish.

  • Thank you. I did not think it would be that big of a deal to have the language barrier or is it just such a change from the norm that an American would be expecting? I am taking your advise very serious and am now looking at the two options you recommended rather then staying in town.

  • The chance of finding a chica that speaks little to good english is higher in BB (or FOD?) than in Town i think.

When i'm with a girl i want to talk and joke around a bit. When i was at BBs for the first time this year i found 2 or 3 with some english skills. I had one of them for 2 TLNs and it was so much fun! I teached her english (and some german) and she teached me spanish. After two weeks in BBs i learned so much spanish, that i could do smalltalk with the kind room maid at the morning.

When you have a chica with no english skills and you dont have spanish skills, your experience of conversation will be like this:

    I go shower first.
    Yes/No
    Thanks!
    Adios!

So for a start those resorts are fine, and after gaining some spanish skills you can go to town checking out how it works ;)

A phone with google translate or just a translation book will be very helpfull!

oh come one man..... you give me no credit at all.....

Sosua is just fine for a newbie, especially if they come stay at one of my places. I am fluent in both english and spanish and know MANY girls that can communicate just fine.
I am aware that the "go-to answer" here is always one of the "point and click" places such as BB and FOD....... but good lord..... if you do that you are missing out on more than 95% of what this beautiful island has to offer! The beach at BB SUCKS! and FOD has no close access to any beach at all.... not even one that sucks. on the other hand, Sosua beach is one of the best on the islands. In fact, they have buses from santiago and many other places that buss the locals back and forth to this beach specifically because it is indeed one of the nicest. add to that the huge number and variety of restaurants rather than one single menu at FOD and BB.
and the girls........ wow..... do I even want to touch this one??? i guess I will.....
FOD is on a huge decline as far as the quality of girls. I would say this is "just my opinion"..... but it is not. I have pretty much quit taking people there even for the bikini contests and such after many of my guests could not wait to leave and come find something "fuckable" back in Sosua. Really..... it is bad and getting worse. Of course there are always 1 or 2, but why limit yourself to 1 or 2 for your entire stay when you could be having 2 or 3 different HOT women every single day in Sosua?
BB is a bit better, but it is MUCH more like business there. grab one, do your business, pay, and she is out the door again. Plus there is the whole issua of the taxi mafia there and their outrageous prices... and the fact both locations are not close to anything.... etc.

Sosua is the better choice by far! That is one of the many reasons I moved here from Puerto Plata. Here is just ONE example. There is an apartment building across the street from one of my hotels..... it is FULL of girls ranging from 18 to 28 or so. HOT.... cheap..... FUN. You can literally sit on the deck and watch them come and go. If you like one, waive at her and she comes right over. It just doesn't get much better.

really, I don't get the hype of FOD and BB..... they are fun to visit once in a while for an afternoon at most..... but why stay there longer than a day or 2 at most?

    Just my 2 pesos......

  • With Jessiejames as your wingman, you can't go wrong.  If you want to stay in sosua, stay at one of Jessie's places and he will help you. I was just suggesting the compounds cause it appears he had no experience, no spanish , and was by himself.

    Thanks sir!

I hope it didn't read as harsh. I was poking fun at ya and trying to present a different viewpoint at the same time. I will gladly take anyone under my wing that wants to try what many consider the "real island".
