Bus transportation

  • I am going to SD for a few days during my stay at Sosua, I know I got two options: metrotours or Caribe.
I did a google, but am still left with a question: is it neccesary to make reservations and if so, how much time in advance? Or can I just go there and hop on?

  • I have used the buses many times.  They run quite often and are rarely crowded.  you will not have a problem.  On my last trip my wingman was offered a bj on the bus.

  • Only time I've heard people come across this is when you are in between stops like being picked up in STI or POP...from the first stops like SD or Sosua, just give yourself a lil time as caribe has buses every hour...metro like every 3 hrs. But see the websites for more accurate times...

  • I have used Metrobus with no problem.  Have travelled from Santiago to Sosua and back with no incident.  Wasn't as luck as some to be offered a BJ on the bus ride but have heard stories like this from some friends who use to travel down there...

Would be a very nice way to settle into vacation mode huh.... recline the chair back, beautiful chica looking up at u as she's searching for the cream filling...

    ahhh yeahhh.....

If I was offered a BJ on the bus, I think I would have accepted just to say I did it.

  • I have used Caribe tours a lot. I go from Puerto Plata to Santo Domingo every so often.
and it is a great way to go. 330 pesos. it takes about 3.5 hours to go from PP to SD.
I have never bothered to reserve. all though I have tried but Caribe-tours reservation part on their sight was whacked out everytime i tried to reserve.
get there about an hour early to purchase your ticket.
if it is a holiday that is when things can get tough. also on holidays.
they run a little different than normal schedule sometimes.
as everyone wants to go somewhere. but most of the time no real problem.

and yes BJ's do occur. LOL
the trick for that is this.
1 try to be the first in line to get on the bus. go all the way to the back and sit there.
2 if it is a Double Decker bus. go up and all the way in back.
    3 enjoy. LOL
Good times and riches and Son of a Bitches, Ive seen more then I can recall.

  • Damn, all the flights arrive several hours before the first bus leave Santiago and then the flights all leave before first bus of the day. Looks like if I want to save money by flying into STI, have to leave Sousa early and stay in Santiago for a night, why can't flights ever work out.  :/  Oh well.

  • When I get off the Airplane in Santo Domingo, what do I use to get to the Caribe bus terminal?

    How much should it cost?

  • When leaving SD airport go upstairs at the exit and take one of those cabs to the bus station. There is an escalator right at the exit. If you take the tourist cabs downstairs they usually cost more. It will cost anywhere from 1000-1500 pesos for the cab as everything is negotiable.
