Going Taxi Rate for Santiago to BB or FOD

  • Anyone, know what the price for this service is?  I know it's over an hour to get to one town to the other so I'd hate to guess.  Trying to avoid an 23 hour layover flight.

    Thanks!

  • Just came back and already to go again, but maybe to Santiago Airport.  Only direct flights from Boston and wanted to know if the bus runs at 3 am and how much the taxi is to the bus station.

  • Ummm still need an answer to this question.. I think BB lets you hang around til someone can check you in.  Wanted to know if they can charge it to the bill you pay on check in. Last time flew to POP but flight to STI is direct and much cheaper.

  • I just returned from BB and took taxi both ways to and from Santiago,  $90 both ways is what the rate was. My first time I arrived after the office closed the first time and the security guy checked me in and then in the morning I paid for my ride and the room for my stay. Then on the return to Santiago I paid the driver directly. Both times the ride averaged about 90 minutes depending of course n traffic.  From my stand point I found better flight options flying into Santiago even though the taxi was a little more but the overall experience was better.

  • taxi rates vary from $80-$100 one way and will take about 90 mins, give or take, depending on the road and traffic conditions.  There are two bus companies that run from STI to Sosua, Caribe Tours and Metro Buses. Neither one of the bus companies runs late at night, so if you arriving on a later flight you will need to take a taxi or overnight in Santiago. The buses are much cheaper though. Metro Bus is a better option if you take the bus because it stops right in Sosua at the gas station, whereas you'd have to grab a cab back from Caribe Tours at their stop. Either way there's going to be a cab ride to either of the compunds, I believe.

Aside from Miguel, Lorenzo is a driver who operates out of the Casa Cayena is reliable and will go any time of the day or night. He is independent of the hotel but you can reach him through the front desk there.

  • Thank you.. Just booked a flight to Santiago for 505.00 and flight is only about 3 1/2 hours.  I checked flights to POP and they were about 8 1/2 hours with two stops and cost 844.00 and I think you then have to pay Blackbeards another 40.00 for a taxi so the extra 50.00 for a taxi and shorter flight seems worth it to save 250.00 to 300.00 in total.  Only problem is the only direct flights out Boston to Santiago is at 10.50pm so I'll arrive really early and will have to sit around til my room is available.  Other problem.. waited too long.. only had a single room for Friday and Saturday and a Deluxe Single for Monday in which I'll be checking out late that night.  My Sunday will be homeless so maybe I'll find a good Place in Sosua and hang out there til the next day.

  • If your heading there this weekend, I could always use a wing at FOD. I'll be there from sat-tues. Then onto Sosua. Thanks for rehashing this thread as I was planning on doing the flight into STI on Saturday and using Miguel. Saved about he same amount as far as the flight coming from Orlando. Actually a lot more. 800 to POP and only 350 to Sti

  • Sorry not going until May 23rd Memorial Day weekend.. Maybe FOD might have Sunday open.  I believe its a lot closer and Sosua may be too hard core.. I went to Pattaya Thailand a month ago and fell in love on day 2.

  • I will actually be in Sosua by that time if you need any help but you should be able to find an opening at Fod too. Sosua will probably be crazy with the holiday weekend.
