First Trip to DR - Prescriptions and Customs

  • Hello Mongers,
First post!  I am planning my first trip to DR.  Think I'll go to FOD - another story on that.

What advice on getting through customs?  I've got several prescriptions.

Don't want to get to the chicas and not have my cialis plus my A-game.  I am assuming if you bring in meds in the container issued by the pharmacy that you're ok.  What about meds bought off-shore? I am thinking that could be a prob.

btw, have already found soooo much useful info on this board.  Thanks guys!

    thanks in advance
    Carl

  • Hey Carl,

Dick meds of any kind are okay to bring to the DR as long as their prescribed to you and have your name on them.  In fact bring all of your non C1 drugs to the DR and get them refilled at the pharmacy's there for cheap.  And you can bring them back to the states make sure you have all your paperwork though.  Dick meds are over the counter drugs there so leaving them at home and buying them there isn't a problem either. They do have name brands Viagra, Cialis, but the sell for top buck there, generics work well from what I've been told.  I don't know the names of the generics maybe others on here can help with that. And if you purchase a fast pass there's like wealth on info on this topic on here.

Enjoy your trip and post some pics!

Yes, they are avaialable in generic form. I use La Pela (generic Cialis) and they work great for me.
One thing though, buy them at a farmacia/pharmacy,not the street or the front desk, cheaper this way.
Have a blast and do not forget the photo's!!!

  • Prescription meds will be fine going to the DR. Just don't take any narcotics without a legal Rx or illegal stuff like weed. You can take your own cialis or get it in the DR. Generics are cheaper and usually just as good.  Generic Cialis is tadalafil 20mg.  Like said, buy at the pharmacy and not off the street. I usually buy some generic cialis and viagra, and antibiotics in the DR and bring back to the states.  Be sure to take some generic Imodium with you in case of diarrhea.

  • You can check previous posts here regarding the Cialis, etc. meds.  Yes, get them at the pharmacy; one reason because of the price.  One pill should cost no more than 50 pesos, about $1.25.  Avoid the Viagra generics, since they are only 4 hour pills.  No need to buy the name brands; the generics work great.  I usually buy the Cialis generics, since they are a 36 hour pill.  La Pela, or Mambo 36 are just 2 names.  If you buy in bulk, ask for a discount, which should be about 5%.  Don't get ripped off by paying more.
As for your meds that you're bringing in, just keep them in your pockets.

I usually buy a couple of packs of La Pela (24 count tablets) and bring them back to the states in my carry on.
I have never had any issues with US Customs, has anyone?

i always bring a couple rounds of antibiotics and some dick meds back when i come back.  never an issue.  have chatted with guys that did go thru a bag search stateside and they simply said it was legal in the DR to purchase and being that there was noting narcotic it wasnt an issue.  pain meds, well, that creates another issue.  am afraid some doggy back behind the scenes might hit on that
