Virgin trip to Sosua September 2013

  • My first trip to Sosua.

My first trip to Sosua, September 16-20, 2013.

Some brief history on me:  This was my first trip to Sosua.  I’ve previously been to Pattaya City, Thailand and San Jose, Costa Rica.  I’m 45, white guy, from the East coast, USA.

I purposely made my trip to Sosua in September because I’d heard that it is the slow season there.  In general, I don’t like large crowds nor waiting in line.  And I certainly nailed this trip in that regard.  I stayed at Hotel Europa  (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login), and although I did meet a couple of very nice gentleman from Oklahoma, the hotel seemed very quiet to me.  I rarely saw more than one or two guys in the pool, nor passed many guys coming or going to my room.  Same for the restaurants.  I tended to eat dinner between 6-8pm, and each evening, one could count the number of patrons there, on one hand.  I didn’t mind this at all.  In fact, I liked it!

Not to worry about the ladies though……they were plentiful and beautiful!  I was concerned that the slow season might also depict a decreased number of ladies, but this was not the case.  In D’Latinos and Rumbas,  I would guess the ratio of ladies to men at 15 to 1.  Perhaps more!

I won’t go into great detail of my bedroom activities.  I guess I’m just not a “kiss and tell” kind of guy.  Besides, what I enjoy in the bedroom may be totally different than what you enjoy.  But I will go into some detail about other parts of my trip.

    The Weather
Hot and humid!!!  The humidity was especially stifling.  I inquired with locals if this was the norm year ‘round.  I thought perhaps Sosua had a slightly cooler season, such as in Thailand.  But the response to my question was always ……..”it’s always like this”.   For me, most of the time, I was able to adjust to the heat part, but the humidity kept me constantly perspiring to some extent.  Two showers per day was my norm.  The temp does drop down at night.  But the humidity keeps your skin a little moist even then.    None of the bars and restaurants have air conditioning.   But they do all have fans.  And, for the time being, they are all open air places.  The fans do feel nice to sit under with a cold drink, after the sun has gone down.

    The Airport
I flew into and out of, Porta Plata airport.  It’s the first open air airport I’ve even seen!  Very small and quaint.  It serves it’s purpose, handling only a handful of flights both in and out each day.  One tip though, DO NOT eat a hamburger from the “Quick Food” place there in the departure/arrivals area.  I don’t know how they can even call that thing a hamburger.

Oh, and I found it downright comical when an announcement came over the PA system.  First you'd hear this nice little "Ding-Dang-Dong", and then you'd here this.......".WHAAAANT WHAA, WHAUNT WHAAUT WHAAHHH, WHAUGNT WHAAAAAAA".   I couldn't understand a word!!!  Hilarious!

    Hotel Europa
As I said, I stayed at Hotel Europa.  I selected it, based on a trip report (TR) I read at I Love the Chicas.  That TR was spot on!  Europa is managed by a German gentleman by the name of “Diego”.   Diego is always in or near the lobby during the daytime hours.   He’s very business-like and not overly friendly.  But he’s not rude either.  Upon check-in, Diego explained in detail, proper use of the room safe and explained a few cautions of how ladies in your room may attempt to peak over your shoulder while you’re opening it, ect..  He further explained how the hotel is not responsible for thefts within your room.  All good need-to-know information.

My room was perfectly adequate.  Nothing luxurious, mind you.  A large bed and sliding glass door that I never figured out how to open, but never really aspired to do so.  The bathroom was adequate as well.  Nothing fancy about my room, but it was large, clean, and everything worked fine.  The air conditioner is turned on by a maintenance guy upon check in.  He sets the room temperature and you have no control of it after that.  My room temp was actually too cold for my taste.  I inquired about that the next day with Diego and he offered to give me the AC remote if I was willing to leave a deposit.  Instead, I simply asked if the maintenance guy would lower my AC temp a couple of degrees, which he immediately did, and that solved the problem for me.

The bathroom facilities worked just fine for me.  I lost hot water for a few hours one afternoon, and ended up taking a shower with cold water only.  But it really wasn’t that bad, and actually felt good after being outside in the heat all day.  And that was a single incident.

The price at the Europa is $40/night (slow season rate) which I felt was VERY fair.  And the location is simply excellent!  Europa is walking distance from everything.  Perfectly located on Calle Pedro Clisante, midway between the CMP club and the primary bar activity at the corner of Calle Dr. Rosen.  It’s also chica friendly.  The receptionist will take any visitors’ ID (cedula) upon bringing a lady back to your room and will return it to her when she leaves.

There’s also a little bar out front of the Europa.  Two or three ladies are usually sitting at or around the bar at night.  I did not fancy any of them myself.  But I saw other guys enjoying a drink with the ladies there.

The Europa also has a security guard at night at the main entrance, with what looked to me to be a sawed off shotgun in hand.  A young, but friendly guy.  I often wondered if that shotgun was even loaded, and if it was, in what instance would he use it.  But his presence there was reassuring of my safety.  A little bit.

I prefer to have a personal driver waiting for me at the airport to take me to my hotel.  The Europa staff set me up with Rene’.  He had someone at the exit waiting for me holding a sign with my name on it.  Rene’ has a nice, black mini van he uses.  A nice guy, and he speaks very good English.  He also transported me back to the airport for my departure.   His charge was $25 each way.    Here’s some more information for Rene’.  I recommend his services.

    Restaurants
My first of four nights, I ate dinner at what appeared to be the nicest open air restaurant called "El Batey Grill".  It's located at the Terra Linda hotel, I believe.  The waiters all spoke very good English and the food was very good.  It appeared to me that El Batey had higher prices than most any other restaurant.  That being said, I still spent less than $20 US for a fillet mignon and shrimp combo and a beer.  In my home city at a good steak house, that meal would have cost me $50 minimum.  Needless to say, I ate dinner at El Batey the next evening also.

But my third evening I decided to give Rocky's Grill a shot.  There was a sign out front that said, "Rocky's Famous Ribs".  I think I read something about how good Rocky's ribs are, on someone else's TR. And I absolutely LOVE ribs.  So I gave it a shot.  Well....I was NOT dissappointed!!  On that particular night, that is.  Three different amounts of ribs you can order.  4 ribs, 6 ribs or 8 ribs.  I was pretty hungry, so I went for the 6 rib dinner.  It was also very inexpensive!   Something like 500 pesos, I believe.

The ribs that particular night were HUGE and falling off the bone!  Unbelievable!!!  They also come with, what I can best describe as round french fries.  These were really crunchy and fantastic!  There was so much meat on those ribs I simply couldn't eat it all.  And ended up boxing up the left overs and giving them to a beggar with one leg, that was hanging outside the restaurant.  I hope he enjoyed them.

Well, Rocky's ribs were so good, the choice for dinner the next evening was easy......back to Rocky's!  But something went awry that evening.  I thought it seemed like to took a long time for my food to come.  And when it did, the rib meat was burnt down to the bone.  Barely anything left to eat at all!  But I ate what I could, had another beer, and the "round fries" were still fantastic.  Hopefully, that was a rare experience.  I probably should have complained, but I simply don't like to do that.  And I made the best of the situation.  The prior evening's ribs were so fantastic that I'll give Rocky's another shot on my next Sosua trip.

I ate breakfest at the Plan B cafe about 30 yards down the street from Europa.  It's a quaint little place that serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner.  And most of the chicas that work there were really cute and nice.   Look for "Yani" if you go there.  She's thin and sexy and her smile will simply melt ya!  It did me.

    Nightlife
If you've been reading up on Sosua and how things work there, you probably know that the nighttime activity takes place at the corner of Calle Pedro Clisante and Calle Dr. Rosen.  That's the location of Rumbas and D'Latinos.  There are other little bars all up and down Calle Pedro Clisante too.  The other bars seemed pretty dead most times when I strolled by.  But as busy and packed as Rumbas and D'Latinos got around 11pm, and September being the slow season, I'm sure during the busy season (Winter), the other bars will catch the overflow.

Anyway, basically, the bars have nice music and lots of overhead fans.  And plenty of beer to go around for 100 pesos/botlle.  I wasn't sure about tipping.  I couldn't remember reading anything online about whether or not the DR bartenders expect tipping or not.  I tipped a few times, and none of the them seemed surprised.  But then a few times I DIDN'T tip, and they didn't seem surprised then either.  So I still don't know whether a tip is expected when buying a beer in Sosua.  Maybe some of the readers of this report can enlighten us all on this subject.

    The Ladies
Ok, now to the ladies.  As I mentioned in my opening paragraphs.....they are everwhere and beautiful!  I was really shocked by how pretty they all are.  They simply blow away what I saw in San Jose, Costa Rica, when it comes to attractiveness.  They all have perfect teeth and beautiful faces.  With many different shaped bodies to choose from.  And surprisingly to me, there weren't many "plump" ladies.  Practically zero.  Which I was quite happy about, as I do NOT like chunky ladies.
I'd been studying Spanish for about 9 months prior to this trip.  When I visited Costa Rica  a little over a year ago, I spoke nearly zero Spanish.  And I realized after that trip that I needed to learn some, if I was going to return to that country or any other Spanish speaking country.
Does one really NEED to know some Spanish when mongering in a Spanish speaking country? If your only goal is to have sex with beautiful, exotic women......then, no, you don't need to speak or understand much Spanish at all.  But if you actually want to converse and get to know any of these wonderful ladies (which I find to be a wonderful experience), then you definitely want to try to learn as much as you can, prior to going there.
I found my Spanish lessons to be invaluable on this Sosua trip.  And it's really a wonderful experience to witness the studying paying off and actually converse with a Spanish speaker.

    Pricing
Overall, I found the Haitian ladies will go back to your hotel with you for a little less than the Domincan ladies.  Regardless of their appearance.  I'm not sure why this is.  And it may not be EVERYBODY'S experience.   But that was how it went for me.

I asked a gorgeous, little Haitian girl to spend an hour with me for 1000 pesos, and she agreed.  Never asking for any more than that.  I asked one equally gorgeous Dominican lady to accompany me for one hour, and she asked for 1,500 pesos.  I had another equally beautiful Dominican lady request to spend the entire night with me for 2,000 pesos, which I agreed.  But shortly after some fun activities in my room, she stated that she had to leave and couldn't stay the entire night.  The fun activities were SO fun for me......I went ahead and paid her the 2,000 pesos.

    Overall opinion
My overall opinion of Sosua is that I can't wait to get back!!!  It's very inexpensive.  Very easy to get to from the US East coast, and the best part.......I found the ladies to be INCREDIBLY hot!  More so than the ladies in San Jose, Costa Rica and Pattaya, Thailand.

See ya's in January, in Sosua!!!

  • Hey Paul - Welcome to the sit and thanks for sharing your first trip report to dr on here.  I went ahead and took your document file and copied it here as it makes things a lot easier for members to read and  comment on it.

If you like it quite and not a lot of crowds and stuff you should give Field of Dream or Blackbeards a try on your next trip and even better come with us on one of our trips we have planned.  We should be going in Jan - Feb and may or june all these months we have a lot of Members going down there and nothing better but going with fellow mongers and makes your experience that much better.

Also right now you can only see a VERY SMALL portion of this site as there are MANY MANY MANY sections you can not even see right now like chica reviews and the real juicy trip reports with photos and more and i am sure the other members will agree with me about getting the fast pass its cheap and well worth it

Sosua is great, I have been Sosusa 3x this year and hoping to squezze my 4th trip before the end year. I find the girls as hot as the weather and with a little patients you can find a girl at a good price.

I do have too to try San Jose in CR for myself, there are a few members here that feel CR is also great  ;D :fuckbanana:

  • Hey Roamer.  San Jose had it's pluses.  The weather isn't as hot as Sosua.  And the daytime action at the MP's  in San Jose was something that Sosua doesn't have.  (I actually found myself kind of bored during the daytime hours in Sosua.  But the cost of time with the ladies is 3 to 4 times more in San Jose.  And the Sosua ladies are less "business-like", overall.

  • Thanks Paul

I appreciate your POV, but CR  and the Del Ray is on my bucket list... I was looking at the Sportsmen lounge looks pretty nice and close to ground zero the DR in San Jose

Yes, Sousa during the day is very slow, that's why I make my plans with a Chica the night before for daytime activities. Its my understanding BB and FOD have Chica from morning until late at night, could be a option for a slow day... Both BB and FOD are another bucket list item

Glad you had a great time in Sousa   :fuckbanana:

But there are girls available in Sosua during the day, as early as 9am. I guess a lot of them assume all the guys are with hangovers and have bad attitudes. I saw a girl on my way to Mora Mai (sp) and asked her if she wants breakfast.

It was cool, had coffee and some eggs. Took a moto concho back to Mary Rose and she whipped her $2,500 peso story on me. She settled for $1,000 for a quick suck and fuck. Little did she know I would have given here another $1,000 to leave. Yak Yak, too much drama for me at 10 am.Something about her mother, her grandmother and the sick goat.

  • Hey Paul – thanks for sending your TR. I enjoyed reading it very much.

About the humidity – well, it is a tropical island, LOL. But I think living here in Houston probably makes me a bit more used to it. And it’s nowhere near as hot as say – Abu Dhabi or even Rio. When I went to Rio a year ago it was brutal. And they (people in Rio) don’t place as much emphasis on air conditioning as we do here in Htown. So I’m thinking Sosua wasn’t that bad, even when I went in August 2011.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on Casa Cayena (CC) for my November trip. Got the bungalow at $66 a night. I’ll check out Europa when I’m down there. I guess it could be OK but I’m hearing too many things that turn me off – like the AC thing, that turns me off; and the guy with the shotgun – yikes! New Garden doesn’t have those things. I don’t think CC is like that either. I’ll swing by Europa when I’m down there and check it out.

Interesting about beer prices. In Rumba, I believe I was charged 80 pesos. In the German cigar bar across the street, 120 pesos. But that might have been for the lady. I can’t remember. But interesting thing is that they seem to revolve around 80-120 pesos. Not sure about tipping, I don’t think I did too much of it.

As far as comparing the ladies from various mongering spots, I would give the edge to the Costa Rican ladies to any others in the world for beauty, but the prices and services often leave much to be desired. But there are many beautiful ladies in Sosua, and they seem to want to be with you more and give you better service – and cost a whole lot loss.

So, in summary, I love Sosua too! Even with all the crazy changes that seem to be going on. The level of GFE services available in Sosua far eclipses what you usually get in SJ/CR, and for much less.

Speaking some Spanish helps, and like you, I am getting better. It helps to have a lady that wants to help you converse with her. I had the greatest time in January with a Dominicana that did not speak any English. So we were relying on my limited Spanish. But the point is, she was patient with me and helped me learn the words that I needed, that I did not know.

Anyway, thanks for your report. Glad to know that things are still happenin’ in Sosua, despite some of the recent changes.

I’ll be there over Thanksgiving, staying at Casa Cayena for the first time. I’ll have a look at the Europa while I am there.

Then (as we have discussed in PMs), it looks like we will finally be able to catch up in Sosua in January, when I return to Sosua. I look forward to that!

    Cheers,

    TD

  • HAHAHA,  Yeah there is a guy with a 12 gauge whose runs security for the Europa.  He's actually a really nice guy and one night I bought him a beer and he said no thank you it's prohibited and asked for a coke instead.  Very by the books at that guy.  I grew up around guns and it didn't bother me a bit, more a deterrent than anything else.

  • I have to say very well written and had a lot of good information.
I see you say you were also in Pattaya Thailand and Costa Rico. I was just in Pattaya in Sept for 3 weeks and had a great time. How would you compare the 2 cities? I understand Pattaya is much larger but aside from the volume of girls and bars how do they compare? I was going to go to Sosua but they just started getting the raids and closed Passions so I went to Thailand instead. The problems I had with Thailand were
    1) Food was not good, not a big fan of Thai but I hate English and Australian food, who puts baked bean on a breakfast plate? Could not find a 1/2 way decent burger.
    2) Ladyboys, I heard they were in Thailand but seriously there had to be 5000 of them in the city, some that could fool anyone. Did the Transsexuals in DR act like they do in Thailand?
    3) Other tourist, I went and there seemed to be few Americans around, the English were good but the Aussies were asses, go to Thailand and look for fights?

Is it as easy to get around as it is in Pattaya? I was a Baht bus jumping fool there. Are the girls as friendly as in Thailand? They all make you feel like their real boyfriends and none of the ones I was with were in a rush to leave. Also never had a girl offer up the ass without me asking or asking for more money. Do the girls in DR like Anal?

Also did you feel safe in Sosua? Can you walk around without having to be worried about getting mugged? I was surprised Thailand all I had to watch out for were pick pockets for the most part, well plus those ladyboys.
I like to play Jenga on the first date. So she knows my pull out game is strong.

Wait are you talking to me?  If so I was in Angeles City, PH, and had a quick trip to Medellin, CO.  Never been to Costa Rica or Pattaya, Thailand.

  • It was good, a lot and I mean a lot of cute flacas, but pretty much had the same problems with other monger as you did.  Only they included all nationality.  The Americans were all downright creepy as hell and acted like half wits, and the Aussies were assholes.  My next trip to the Phils probably won't be to AC or Subic,  I'm talking to some of the models over there introduced to me by my buddies and seeing if I can setup and beach vacation week with some of them.  I know several guys that do that instead of the usual bar hopping.

  • Good trip report, Paul.  I haven't been to Sosua, but all you guys are making me want to visit.  I spent 6-weeks (July - Aug) in Punta Cana with a trip over to Santo Domingo squeezed in and I had a great time, so I need to get my trip report and photos together.

I'm not so sure about Thailand but in AC the only guys that get them are the ones that go looking for them.  You basically can't make that mistake unless you really want to. This one dude asked me one night after checking them out if I would lose any respect for him if he went home with one.  I said "Nope, but I just wouldn't think you're straight as you claim to be"
