  • So basically it's:

    Standard Room (11 available) – $45.00$42.75 ($49.59 after VAT) U.S./ night*

    Private Suite (1 available) – $85.00$80.75 ($93.67 after VAT)  U.S./ night*

    Jacuzzi Suite (1 available) - $85.00$80.75 ($93.67 after VAT)  U.S./ night*

    SM Suite (1 available) - $85.00$80.75 ($93.67 after VAT)  U.S./ night*

    Master Suite (1 available) - $120.00$114.00 ($132.24 after VAT)  U.S./ night*

    2 Bedroom Suite (1 available) - $120.00$114.00 ($132.24 after VAT)  U.S./ night*

So quick question or 2.  Are they going to combine the IFTC 5% discount with the 5 for 4 special offer? And do they have a set menu of prices for the chicas?(i.e. ST, TLN, etc...) Do the chicas have the ability to make deals for themselves (like BB) for all day or multi-day?

It would have been nice of the website gallery for the rooms titles the pics with the room type. It would alleviate questions like: Are there swings in every room? Are the Esse-style couches in only the suites or where?

Overall the pics make the place look great. Hopefully we'll get a bit more info (restaurant menus would be awesome as well) but overall it's looking pretty sweet.

I was curious what it VAT you mention in ur post?

As far as the room pics i totally agree we need a description and pic of each room catergory and price and this way we know what is what and i will mention that to him.

Also i have a meeting with him in october so i will take plenty of pictures for everyone.

  • VAT is Value Added Tax. Canada and a lot of european countries have this. Usually it's instead of an income tax.

The FOD website on the room pricing page states there is a 16% VAT

  • The VAT in the DR is just a way to pad the check for 16%. I refuse to pay it, and have never had to pay it. They should take it off, or show me the tax returns where they remitted the tax to the govt. Bogus.

  • Ok i am posting this on behalf of FOD-Jeffrey one of the owners as he is still having issues posting in the DR (remember our site is blocked)

    Here is his response:

    To Topdeckgames....

Although I understand your apprehensions about companies that claim to remit the 16% ITBS (the Dominican VAT), the government is now cracking down on any business that does not file. Every legal company is given an RNC number, one that tracks your purchases as well as your income. So, if you order, for instance, a lot of beer from the local brewery (like we do) and then do not produce sales figures to justify the purchase, the tax department knows that something is amiss. Any time that you care to, I would be glad to give you my RNC number which you can then use on the Dominican tax department's web site to verify that I am in good standings and that all applicable taxes have been paid. At the Field of Dreams Adult Resort, everything that we say that we do, we do...and everything that we promise to do, we also do. In a world of empty promises and "padded bills"....the FOD is the one place where you can party...and pay legal Dominican taxes...knowing that we are as nakedly open as our chicas when they take off their clothes.

  • Now i am going to chime in here also -- I had done some research on my own and i am not saying this becuase we are working with FOD but he is right on point and he is in good standing.  I know i did not like paying the fee either and thought it was bullshit but they do the same shit in the states with all those hotel taxes and shit.

FOD and BB are both in good standing with the Tax authority down there.  I can not say much for other places lol

for some reason i think the tax authority started to crack down on these places, especially the ones that are right on the edge of the law (running a house of prostitution.   hooking is legal, pimping isnt)

i know my first trips down, if u paid in u.s. cash, no tax. that was at bb's as well as ng.  not so now.

i know the popo has been trying to bust bb's (in the dr, anybody making money is subject to the proverbial shakedown) for sometime now for running a house of ill refute.  that is why they took down the pics of all the gals on the wall at the bar.

i am going to guess they will skate as straight as they can, not give them a reason to take them down.   in past history, gangsters were never busted for their crimes, but... by the irs for failur to report income

  • I appreciate the response from Jeffrey and accept as accurate what he represents. And this is coming from a FOD fan. But I still am leery of this tax. When I was at FOD in Feb. the beers were 100 pesos, not 116. The room was 700 pesos for 4 hours, not 812. And I realize that it's different management.
One thing I want to point out is that just itemizing a tax is bad business. The DR appeals to me because there is no overbearing government like here. Just build the tax into the price so I'm not reminded of the forced partnership of government.
And thanks again for responding Jeff. I found FOD in March, 2010 and thought I was in heaven. I was disappointed when it closed and thrilled when it reopened. I have my two friends jazzed about spending time there.

I totally agree with your remarks about not actually itemizing the taxes...and for the bar and restaurant we don\'t (it\'s built into the price). But, for the rooms, we use government approved room forms and most of the tax inspectors in the Dominican have the IQ of plankton....so we want them to see the ITBS charge on the receipt and on the room check-in form. Life here is always a challenge and as the new owners of the FOD we are trying very hard to please everyone at the same time...something that is a challenge at the best of times and only more so in the Dominican.

  • Hey Jeffrey,
I tried sending an email on your website, but got an error. I want to reserve for Feb. 8-9, and possibly more. There are some discounts posted on the site, but it seems to be ambiguous about whether they apply to the VIPs or the guys in the cheap seats, like me.

  • OK I just sent a question via the FOD site about the rooms, I'll post the response here for all. This was the question.
    ---------------------------------

    Hi,
I've been looking over your website and the info posted on IFTC and had a few questions.  What is the difference between the SM/Jacuzi/Private Suites vs the master suite, vs the standard room?(square footage, equipment, decor, etc...). The brochure mentions each room has A/C, 46" TV, cable, and en-suite bathroom...what about mini fridges, safes, internet connection, fans, etc...

  • Well a nice quick response...

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Dear Daryl,

On behalf of the entire team at the Field of Dreams Adult Resort, I thank you for your interest in our one-of-a-kind, luxury, adult resort. Situated in the gorgeous and sunny Dominican Republic and staffed with some of the most beautiful girls on this island, we offer a unique and intimate adult vacation to the discriminating traveler.

The principal difference between our suites and our standard rooms is, as you correctly assumed, the square footage. Although each suite has its own unique characteristics, their size make them not only roomier, but also able to accommodate separate bathrooms instead of the open concept bathrooms of our standard rooms which have individually enclosed showers and water-closets but are basically an extension of the room. The Master Suite is a room onto itself, like no other, in scope, size and furnishings. It has a complete sitting area with sofas, is basically twice as large as even our biggest suite and has a granite appointed bathroom that is right out of an expensive
    designer magazine.

Although every room does NOT have a fridge (most suites do, though), they ALL have ceiling fans, security safes and the entire Field of Dreams Adult Resort is covered throughout by our high speed, WiFi Internet connection.

Trusting that this answers all of your questions, I remain available to respond to any further inquiries that you might have.

    Jeffrey Lars
    Field of Dreams Adult Resort
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All in all it sounds like what I expected, could have wished for a bit more description on the suite differences, not sure a seating area makes the Master $40 more a night, guess it would depend on actual square footage.

  • The basic rooms are pretty small. There's a king size bed, dresser, closet, and end tables. No room for a chair. The bathroom is a shower on one side, sink in the middle, and toilet on the other side(with a door). The previous manager told me he had to move the AC units to the bathroom because when they were situated above the TV screens on the wall across from the bed they would leak occasionally, and the combination tax collector/sea cucumber/maintenance people didn't know to turn them off and fix them.
Anyway, I found them to be clean, but I never spent a night there. It's kinda like a giant living room area right outside your door, with a pool and a bar. Or, I guess you could go sit up in the Jacuzzi.

i agree with chioma.  while it is nice to stay at the ritz once and again, who accompanies u to the ritz is actually more important.

that is the reason we all go to the DR.   a nice room, good food, cold drinks, all ancillary ,  just something to do while recharging. lol
