But to look on the bright side, the airliners are pushing.  United had a flight Newark-Santo Domingo-Newark last Sunday.  I do not know how they got approval, but they did.  Air Tansat a Canadian company has applied to Canadian and DR governments to start their Toronto-Punta Cana and Toronto Puerto Plata routes in June.  And Lufthansa has applied to the Canadian and German governments to start their Frankfurt-Canada routes in June.  I do not see governments giving approval to one airline over another so I do not think these applications will be approved.  But at least it is a start.

The problem for Canada is that the USA numbers of cases and deaths are just so awful, no one wants to open the USA-Canada border.  That raises the question of do we (I am Canadian) open up the border to other countries and keep it closed to USA?
