Title: Dream Hotel, Bangkok - Sukhumvit Soi 15
Post by: Westy on April 22, 2015, 04:21:23 PM
I stayed at the Dream Hotel, north of Sukhumvit Road on Soi 15, for the first few days and the last few days of my "surprise" trip to Thailand last December. (Why this trip was a surprise is another story; I was originally headed for the Philippines, but Typhoon Hagupit was expected to arrive in Manila the same hour my flight was supposed to land! So I changed destinations, at excruciating cost, and went to Bangkok instead.) This is actually two hotels, under the same management, across the soi from each other. One has the restaurant - the other has a rooftop swimming pool with a bar and "snack bar." I stayed in the building with the restaurant first, and in the one with the swimming pool after.

The rooms were very comfortable, although the desk was too high for me to be comfortable using my notebook. Wifi was high-speed with an excellent signal. I had a very nice king bed - with a down comforter, which only makes sense when you crank up the air conditioner to "Super Chill" levels! (But it WAS nice and cushy.) The lighting was interesting, with blue LED "street-glow" lights under the bed that must have been meant for the "dream" ambiance ... Breakfast was included with my reservation, and they had a really impressive breakfast buffet.

Soi 15 is a few blocks from Asok, putting me halfway between Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy. It's even closer to Soi 7, with its massage parlors including the Eden Club and Dr. BJ's Nuru Massage. I really liked Dr. BJ's ... for those of us who remember the Wham-O Slip&Slide, a long vinyl mat with a hose connection for the kids to belly-whop on and slide down on a hot day, it was a lot like that; only you're the Slip&Slide, and the massage girl squirts you down with nuru gel and slips-and-slides all over you. (I went back for my last piece of Thai poon, the afternoon I left for home.)

Next time I get back to BKK, I'll stay at the Dream.

Great start.

What did that room cost you?

IIRC it was 2500 baht, about $80 US. Worth it, too. A couple of blocks from Sukhumvit - nice and quiet.

Great information, Thailand is my first trip I plan on taking after I retire in a couple of years. I can't take the 2 or 3 weeks off right now that would justify that trip for me

Thanks for your report
