Dominican Bay Hotel

  • The Dominican Bay Hotel is located in Boca Chica. It is the only other all-inclusive resort besides the Oasis Hamaca. The room rates are cheaper here than at the Hamaca. That's because the Domincian Bay IS NOT located on the beach. It is actually two blocks from the beach, BUT it has its very own private walkway directly to the beach. This walk way lets you out in front of a small snack bar and gift shop at the edge of the beach. The resort's disco is also located here. At night the hotel has beach activities set up for hotel guests only. This hotel is located at the south western part of Boca Chica. The good thing is that if you venture off the beach, fifty yards from the resort is a group of local fish frys and bar. These are REAL Dominican places....they look run down and dirty, but the food is good. I have eaten there every time I have visited Boca Chica inthe past five years and never gotten sick. The fried fish is out of this world. The hotel itself has a buffet which is average to below average in the quality of food it offeres. The hotel has an internet center and an theater for shows put on by hotel staff. The hotel does have a very nice pool which had a bar located very close to the pool. The rooms were spacious and airconditioned. Nothing too fancy. Check in time was average. Boca Chica has come along way in the past couple of years in terms of building its tourism industry. The Dominican Bay is located on the western most part of the beach and there aren't too many things located next to the resort. But if you want to go to the main strip, its only a three minute taxi or motoconcho ride. Based on my own experiance, I would NOT stay at this hotel again, unless they had a special low rate package deal going on.
