Seemed like they are gearing towards the sosua area mainly and why? It’s the biggest tourist area next to cabarete…the tourist traffic there is by far 100x more than down in the middle of Puerto plata and if you want to count costambar as well. Puerto Plata see’s a lot of action due to the Melacon, but I don’t see tourist living there much. I know for a fact the last time I was in Sosua I said to myself wow, there are a lot of damn foreigners here, just doing typical normal shit you would do here in the states from food shopping to walking their dogs as if they are going to be there for a while. I remember speaking to one of the hotel owners that I was staying at and she told me that some people come down and stay 3-6 months at a time and this is not counting who already lives there. Now with that said fine they want to try to make it safe for who??? – because let’s face it half to most of those girls don’t bother anyone, sure if you look at them and make eye contact she thinks you are showing interest, but during the day Sosua is just a normal old town – and at night it’s no louder than Manhattan or Miami big deal it’s a party town – now I know they said they are gearing towards the places that covet it. CMP to be one and that is their goal, but the independent girls, what are you going to do ? tell her she can’t have a friend or she can’t talk to you.
If they ever really really crack down in Sosua that place will look like the tombs of death valley in weeks, no tourist will go there, so all those European owned food restaurants who get money from us because during the day we are there relaxing with our boys or last night’s date, feeding the economy of sosua, where the girls who make their money and go food shopping, get their hair down pay their cell phone bills, helping the economy – it’s funny how they want to so called crack down on sosua where if you go to the north coast tell me a town that is in pretty good shape economy wise?? Because let’s face it Sosua/Puerto Plata is nice and relaxing to get away from the grind of everyday living, but it’s not really your top destination spot for weekly vacations unless you’re in the hobby that we are in.
Let’s face it – IMHO and this is just me speaking, the new mayor is trying to flex his muscle and say we did this and we are doing that, Why? Because he wants more traffic there, he wants more people to come to Sosua and not Punta Cana (Oh wait there is prostitution there too?? Yes indeed) – but since PC is a very very expensive tourist place, I personally am not going there its more family oriented with your regular night life activity (I just had friends return from there talking about how they seen girls standing on the corner looking desperate). So for him (the mayor) to come out and start saying this is because he wants more than us to go there, he wants families to go there, he wants husbands and wives to honeymoon there, Yes in the long run he is trying to weed us out without weeding us out, if you get what I mean, if we outnumber the normal tourist 80%-20% I bet he wants those numbers shifted normal tourist 20%-80% mongers.
It will be one daunting task to try to eliminate it 100% and like I said if he ever succeeded that place will collapse within weeks. Let’s see how this goes
