  • Great news for guests staying at Blackbeards or anywhere else in Costambar for that matter.

A new ATM has apparently been installed at Yenny's Market.

  • I was always miffed by the fact that there wasn't a ATM in Costambar 10 years ago yet alone just recently. Of course one will pay the $3 fee and another $3 from your bank. Funny how we all just accepted that going outside the gates was the norm for getting ATM cash while staying at Bb's.

  • So it gives you dollars?  Then you have to exchange it for pesos at Yenny's  or will it give you pesos?

I would be surprised if it gives you anything other than pesos.

  • I will attempt to try the ATM out on Thursday and will let everyone know the details on charges and peso or dollars given from the machine.

  • You guy's must know by now what a cynic I am.  Make sure it's not an ATM that collects your data when you use it.  You know that this is a common scam; collecting you card number and PIN number, sometimes using a hidden camera.  It's called skimming, and it is a common problem.  You can also check for any suspicious devices attached to the ATM.  Hey, we're talking about the D.R. here.

  • Yes it is good news and it works most of the time.  But a few months ago it delivered a receipt but no money!  The owner of Jenny's Market said it was nothing to do with him.  Banco Popular refused to do anything about it, but advised me to go to my bank in Canada and thaty they should make a claim against Banco Popular.

This I did and as I kept the receipt there was proof I used the machine.  I guess Banco Popular counted their money and found they had a surplus of 10,000 pesos in the machine.  I received a credit to my account in Canada about three months later.
